Terms of Service

Last updated 14 July 2026

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and LitBook. By creating an account or using LitBook, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2. What LitBook is

LitBook generates short reading lessons — a passage at your level with questions and instant feedback — to help you practise a language. It's a study aid, not a certified course, tutor, or substitute for professional instruction.

3. Your account

You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. Provide accurate information, and let us know if you spot unauthorised use. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age where you live) to use LitBook.

4. AI-generated content

Lessons are generated by AI (Anthropic's Claude) and read-aloud audio by ElevenLabs. This content can contain mistakes — wrong facts, imperfect grammar, or an answer marked incorrectly. Don't rely on it for anything important, and always double-check before treating a lesson as authoritative. You use AI-generated content at your own discretion.

5. Credits & payment

LitBook runs on credits. Free accounts receive a monthly allowance of credits that resets at the start of each calendar month; unused free credits do not roll over. Each lesson costs credits based on its length and whether you add read-aloud audio, shown before you generate it.

Paid plans are coming. Credits have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and credits already spent on a generated lesson are non-refundable. We may change credit costs or plan pricing; changes apply going forward, not to lessons you've already made.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • abuse, overload, or attempt to bypass rate limits or credit accounting;
  • scrape, resell, or redistribute LitBook content or access as your own service;
  • reverse-engineer the service or interfere with its security;
  • use LitBook to generate unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.

7. Intellectual property

LitBook, its design, and its software are ours. The lessons generated for you are yours to use for your own learning. You keep responsibility for how you use any content you generate.

8. Availability & changes

LitBook is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

9. Disclaimer & liability

To the extent permitted by law, LitBook makes no warranties of any kind, and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated content. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You can stop using LitBook and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as LitBook evolves. If we make material changes we'll update the date above; continuing to use LitBook after a change means you accept the new terms.
