Questions, answered.

+What is LitBook?

LitBook is an AI language-learning app that generates short reading passages at exactly your level. Every lesson is an original passage on a topic you chose, followed by eight questions — grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension — with hints in your own language and instant feedback.

+Is LitBook free?

Yes. The free plan includes 30 credits every month — enough for a short reading lesson a day. Paid plans with more credits and read-aloud audio are on the way.

+Which languages can I learn on LitBook?

French, Spanish, English, German, Italian and Swedish — each at any CEFR level from A0 (absolute beginner) to C2.

+What level do I need to start?

None. LitBook starts at A0 with tiny present-tense sentences built from the few hundred most common words, and you can change your level anytime as you improve.

+How is LitBook different from Duolingo?

Duolingo is built around gamified micro-drills; LitBook is reading-first — the whole lesson is a passage written at your level, with comprehension checked and your missed words recycled into future passages.

+Can I stop and continue a lesson later?

Yes. Generated lessons are saved as drafts, and your answers are autosaved so you can continue on another visit or device.

+How does LitBook check lesson quality?

Every lesson passes structural, level and passage-grounding checks, then an independent reviewer checks grammar, clarity and answerability. If a lesson still fails after one repair attempt, LitBook blocks it and refunds the credits instead of showing it.

+Why learn a language by reading?

Research consistently shows that large amounts of reading at a level you ~98% understand is one of the most effective ways to acquire vocabulary and grammar naturally. LitBook exists to keep you at that exact level.
